A Day With Reed

I spent the long weekend working in the garden and washing down the front porch , everything is beginning to look pretty nice outside , I'll take some pictures when I'm all done.

Today I watched my grandson Reed ,He was having allergy problems, making him all congested and running a little fever so he couldn't go to daycare. So of course Nanaw had to take some pictures while he was playing,Being a Downs Syndrome child we thought he might be a little slower , but so far he is right on schedule with most everything , he will be 17 mo. in 10 days.

Look out here he comes , moving targets tend to blur !

We had fun , but I hope he feels better tomorrow !

I love this little boy so much !

But he sure can wear Nanaw out !

Pink Door , Pink Saturday Birthday

Happy 3rd Birthday Pink Saturday !

DO you remember this first picture ?

I showed you this awhile back and talked about how much I loved it , But wasn't sure I had enough nerve to paint my front door pink .(Gay Bumgarner Images )

Then I saw this . Oh I love this too !

Wish I had those flowering trees out front of my porch !

Well I did it !

My door is not as impressive as those above , but boy do I love it pink !

I made a flower box for my garage window , but haven't bought the brackets to put it up yet , so I'm just letting those pink flowers keep my front door company.

I decided I needed something else pink out there so I painted my wooden step ladder pink too.

Then added what plants I already had on hand to it.

I'm gonna have to plant some pots with some brighter pinks in them.

I am real pleased with how it's coming together.

Now it just needs a few nice days strung together so I can wash down the porch , and paint the decking and rails.

The weather just won't cooperate

More Totes

I never did find any more white table cloths like the one I made those first totes from .

But I did find some drop cloths .

These first 2 are an oatmeal color drop cloth that I got at Home Depot'

I started adding pockets to the outside , so it's a little easier to find your keys or your cell phone.I like the ruffles on this one.

This one is a canvas drop cloth that I got at Walmart.
I'm wondering if some of the other paint stores have different kinds of drop cloth too.
I guess I'll have to check that out .



The next one is from some canvas like fabric I had in my stash.
It has 3 pockets on one side and 2 on the other, a burlap strap ,closure and rosette

I have been having fun making these , no two are alike.

Pink and Green Doily Collection

After our monthly " Girls Lunch Day " Wednesday we hit a few resale shops before we came home , and I found these two matching doilies. $2.00 each.

I started this pink green and white doily collection two years ago while on a trip out east.

I didn't even have much pink in my house back then , I just thought they were pretty.

So from that time on I have been snatching them up whenever I see them. Which really isn't all that often.Here they are with another one that my friend gave me the other day. She found it in a bag of old doilies she found while cleaning.





This is one of the original ones I found ...




This is a larger one that matches the last one , only this one has white roses on it too...











Then I have this pair on the mantel...















And then this one .





That's all I have , for now .





It's fun , easy , and cheap to collect , I don't think I payed over $4.00 for any of them.





And they spread that little pop of pink that I love around the room.

Rearrangeing the Living Room

I finally cleaned out my garage enough to have some storage space out there , so I moved out a few pieces of furniture , giving me a little room to rearrange.

The sofa was on this wall under the shelf , now I have it floating at an angle in front of the fireplace. Now I can lay on it and watch TV without getting a creak in my neck .



I had a big round table in front of the windows . That didn't leave much room for anything else there . It made a great place to put the Christmas last year, but after I made the new table I didn't have anyplace else to put it. It lives in the garage now .






If you are standing by the hall door this is what you see.

Bubba likes the sofa here cause he can look out the front door window in comfort .

Chair Makeovers

You remember when I showed you these first two pictures ...And how I was going to paint these chairs to go with the table I made ...
Well here they are , all made over and feeling pretty .

All they need now is a new skirt , I think something with a ruffle will do the trick .

I am still looking for a bench of some sort for the back side under the windows. I've just about given up on the church pew idea , I'm going to keep my mind and eye open for one that is the right size and will seat at least 3 people ,(and falls into the right price range) .
Keep your fingers crossed for me !

Pink Saturday Garage Sale Finds

First ! Happy Mother's Day to you all !

Yesterday my Sis and I went garage saleing( is that a word ? ) This was really our first time out this spring , and of course we had a great time . She came back with enough baskets to open her own basket store . And these are a few of the things I found.A PINK waffle weave table cloth...



This cute little ceramic flower bowl and dish , I don't have any idea what it is supposed to be used for , but it's pretty and pink , so what more could you ask for ?















And this little glass cloche( did I spell that right ? ).

I think it was ment to cover butter , but it will never do that lowly job again .I have been on the look out for them and this is the first one I have found around here , I'm still looking for a bigger one .
