Pricing and packing away...

I had this stuff all spread out on my bed putting prices on them before I pack them away ready to hauled to the next craft show, which is 25th and 26th of Sept. This year we are doing a Shabby Chic section, and this stuff will go in that.

The dolls are from a " Cat and the Fiddle Designs " pattern called Oh,Baby, but I call it Baby sister Annie.
These are just a few of the things we are working on , Keep in mind my sister has been making stuff too. she has made some of the cutest fall and Halloween things. I have to get over there and take some pictures to show you.
So I probably won't be on here to much the next few weeks, I need to get a lot more done, I always wait till the last minute , and then have to work like crazy to make enough stuff.
Look out ! here comes Fall !

Look what my sister brought me !

My sister and her husband recently went on a mini vacation up to Hannibal, Mo. While they were gone I brought in their mail and watered their flowers, so to thank me she brought me this great milk crate with 9 bottles in it.
Isn't it great !
She was with me one time at an antique mall when I was looking at single milk bottles, they were $9 t $12 each ! I bought the 2 small ones in the bottom picture for $4 each.

She must have gotten a good buy, because she said " The lady didn't know what she had. "
Isn't she a great sister ?
Thanks Pam !

Have a wonderful weekend !

Is't she beautiful ?

This is my maternal grandmother when she was around 17 years old ,Dora Aileen Spraggins .
Unfortunately she died when my mother was only 6 years old , so my mother didn't remember much about her, or even how she died. She is a mystery to me.
Look at that dress , she was quite a fashion plate, wasn't she ?
My mother had a few more pictures , but I love this one.
A few years after Dora died my grandfather married again to a wonderful lady who I grew up thinking of as my grandmother , Mama Clara. My grandfather and she later devorced, but she remained my grandmother for the rest of her life , and the man she later married , Papa Jim , became another grandfather to me. I loved them both dearly.
Anyway , I wanted to share this great picture with you !
Have a wonderful day !

Wasted morning

I spent the whole morning going to every hardware store in town looking for an electric brad nailer . I want to make some small cabinets with 1x stock and old shudders and windows. I didn't want to spend a lot for one, cause I might end up not liking to do this. I'm not to good with a hammer and nail, I tend to beat the heck out of whatever I'm nailing. And screws tend to split the wood if it's thin. So anyway , nobody in town had one that didn't cost $300.00.
I came home and got on line and ordered one from Sears for $49.00. It only shoots up to a 1 and 1/4" nail , so hopfully that will work.
It won't be here till next week , so I have to sit on my ideas till it comes. Guess I better get out and finish painting that purgala , that was the word I was trying to think of instead of pagoda.

Have a good Tuesday !

My Blue Heaven

This room is my sanctuary, it has some of my favorite things in it.
I painted the walls and ceiling a pale peaceful blue, then added a
lot of white.
The stitchery above the bed is in an old window for a frame, We
make a lot of these for our craft shows. This one has the quote about
dancing in the rain that is in the upper right hand corner of my blog. The paintings that you can see on the walls in these first three pictures,
were done of my children when they were little, by my good friend and
long ago teacher, artist Gerrie Govert, Type in her name on google and you will
find her web page.
The old rocking chair is over 100 years old and came to me from my
mother, the glass lamps, my husband bought for me over 30 years
ago , when we still lived in Indiana . They were packed away when we
moved , and stayed that way till about a year ago, when I was
sorting through stuff trying to get rid of things I wasn't using. When I
saw these again I realized they would look good in my bedroom.
I found the antique iron bed headboard and foot board at a craft
and antique fair for $50.00, and then had to find rails to fit it.
They cost me $50.00 also, I thought $100.00 for an antique iron
bed was pretty good.
My late husband made the pretty little dry sink and mirror frame
years ago. I searched for a long time to find just the perfect
enamel pitcher and bowl , and found them in two different places.
The round mirror with the blue sides came from the home my
husband grew up in . It was hanging on the wall in his living room
the first time I went to meet his parents.

Across from the bed is the armoire that hides my TV.
That is the door to my bathroom next to it.
I found the two little baby gowns while I was on vacation
out east last year.
The drawing above is a pre study for a painting I did
of my children when they were little.

I actually like the drawing better than the painting.
Well there you have it, My blue heaven...
I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as love sleeping
in it.
Have a great weekend !

I want it WHITE !

Well ,as you can see , I have this pagoda like structure
in my side yard , or garden, and it is or was a black metal. So this morning while it was still cool I decided to work on getting
it white, my daughter-in-law painted one of the posts for me the other day.
It's a little blotchy up close, you know how spray paint is till you get enough coats,
But I think it will look good when we get it finished.
What do you think ?
My son is helping make rock beds for flowers and plants,
you can see them in these two pictures.

I think this will be a sweet cottage garden when we get
done with it, we are just waiting for the weather to start cooling down.
I have so many ideas for decorating that pagoda.

I haven't heard anything about the camper yet,
it is still in the paper, and still next to the lady's house,
so it hasn't sold yet.

Camper ?

I actually went to look at a vintage camper yesterday, I made an offer, lower than the lady wanted, but it was what I could afford to pay. She took my number and said she would think about it, if she didn't get a better offer. It was a 1966 Avion, the body was in good shape, but the inside would have to be gutted. My son said he would help me gut it and restore it , for being able to use it. I told him if he wanted to sleep in a girley decorated camper it was alright with me.
So, we will see. I don't doubt that it is worth every penny that the lady is asking for it. Wish I could give her what she is asking.

Weekend flea market finds

While I was in town yesterday running some errands I decide to go a little south of town to an antique and flea market that I hadn't been to in a while.
I found these four items...
Don't you just love the red and white table cloth ?And the little pitcher with the strawberries on it ? And this sweet little cup and saucer with pink and green ?
I'm sure I will find something to put in the little bud vace at some time.
It was a fun carefree Saturday morning.
Hope ya'll all had a nice weekend !

Baby Reed

For the last 5 month I have been watching this little bundle of joy while Mom and Dad work.
My youngest grandson, born with Downs Syndrome. Isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen ?
Next week Wednesday he starts a special needs school/daycare, I will miss him, but I will be picking him up and keeping him till Mom and Dad get home in the evening , and it will give me more time to do the things I love to do, and since I will still get to kiss that presious face everyday I can handle it.

The beauty of dried Hidrangeas

This year in June my Hydrangea bush was covered in the most beautiful blue cloud like blooms
Then in late July they started to turn green, usually they turn a tan color when they start to dry.
There is one bloom in there from a previous year, see the tan one ?

So I started picking them and putting them in vases and letting them continue to dry, and they stayed green to my delight , I have a lot of green throughout my house.

As you can see , they are everywhere ! I simply adore them !

Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do...

Lunch day

Today is the day that once a month I get together with my Sis and some friends and have lunch, we pick a different resturant in the area each month . it's such fun to get together, and a good way to check out all the resturants too ! I'll tell you later if this was a good one !

Ozark Morning

This was the view out my back door this morning , just as the fog was beginning to lift.
I'm so lucky to live in this beautiful place.

Friday, August 6, 2010

I have been reading some of my favorite blogs this morning, and noticed that a number of them have the sweetest little campers, all decked out in shabby chic and cottage styles. Oh how I would love to do that !! But then I have so much to do to this little house to make it the way I want it, and so little money to work with .
I am living on social security.
Thanks to my late husband, it is more than I would be making on mine, I would still be working if I had to rely on mine. And I so don't want to go back to work ! There defiantly wouldn't be time for all the fun things I like to do. Soooo I guess I will take my time, work on my little home a little at a time, and dream of one of those cute campers....

A peek at my cute vintage style Kitchen

I painted the walls a jadite green color, took down the tile backsplash and put up a beadboard backsplash instead. I wanted a new counter top, but that wasn't in the budget, so I painted the wood trim on the counters red to give it a more vintage look, took off the cabnet doors under the sink and made a skirt and curtains to match from a vintage tablecloth, I love it now!
I will keep looking for vintage dishes and accessories to keep the feel going.

A couple of Fridays ago, my sister and I got a chance to take a day and go to some antique and flea markets, These are a few of the things I found, a sweet breadbox, a metal picnic basket, and an old wooden ironing board. I also found some linnens and a couple of old locker baskets. I had a great day !

Weekend project

This is what I spent most of my weekend doing,This is my oldest grandson Bane, I've been going to do this picture for a long time, It's called  "Arkansas Fan ".
It's a small 10" by 12" oil.
