Fall Mantel , Magazine Copy Cat Challenge

My Copy Cat Challenge is a easy one . I found the idea in the Romantic Homes magazine .

These gussied up pumpkins were my inspiration .

I bought 3 craft pumpkins from the Dollar Tree store.

They were really a bright orange that I wasn’t crazy about , so I tried painting one of them with a more pumpkiny color .

 

I still wasn’t crazy about it . I was going to put these pumpkins on my living room mantel and orange just doesn’t fit in there with all the white , pink ,  and green .

So I started painting them Old White with what was left of my sample jar of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

Here is the finished product …

I found another faux pumpkin I had that was already white and added it to the mix

I put them on either side of my spooky non working clock. Do you see the critters on the sides of it ?

I put a pink ceramic pumpkin that I got last year on top of the clock and added a few other spooky things to finish out the mantel .

So it is not a real close copy , but the inspiration was there and it was fun !

First Craft Show Under the Belt

This last weekend was the first craft show for us this season and we have been working hard to get ready for it .

First thing Saturday morning we are trying to set up and open our little tent shop in the rain , so naturally we three got soaked . We managed to keep most of the merchandise dry , But we were soggy and cold all day .

It preceded to rain all day Saturday , so the sales were pretty much a wash out . Sunday dawned with cloudy skies but it wasn’t raining so the crowds came out to shop .

It ended up being a good show for us ! Just think what it could have been with two days of no rain . But you know what ? We really needed the rain , so I will be happy with one good day !

There is almost 3 weeks till the next one so we have some time to make some restock. Maybe I’ll get someone to take a picture of me the next time .

The Mad Rush

It has been crazy around here ! I have been working my bottom off trying to get stocked up for the upcoming craft fairs . On top of that my laptop died , I had to get a new one !  The software program I used to make our postcards , business cards , and hangtags is no longer compatible  with this new computer. I had to buy a new one of those also. And it’s different too ! Having to learn how to use it to get what I want is taking much more time than I want to spend on it .

Okay , I’m done complaining now !

I’ll show you some of the things I have been working on .

There are tote bags…

I almost don’t want to sell this last one…

Then there are some keepsake/jewelry boxes made from silverware boxes…

I made a few vignette boxes from old sewing machine drawers…

They come with a book bundle and a sprig of dried hydrangea .

Then I made some pillows…

The graphics are from Graphiques and The Graphic Fairy.

And now I am working on some lighted garlands like this one…

Some will have tags , some won’t .

I made a few dolls and teddy bears earlier in the summer  so they will go along too .

We just have a little under 2 weeks till our first
 show ,  so I am frantically trying to get more stuff
 done .

And then I am hoping it will sell !
