Porch News

I just read where Gypsy Brocante is changing her Porch club to a once a month event where she will feature some one's porch and we will all join the party with pictures of our own.
Great idea Jill ! I do so love porches !
Speaking of which , if you saw my post Saturday you saw where I bought this sweet little washtub at Leola's. While your looking at this picture , look at the front door.
I am thinking of painting it. I'll talk about the color in a minute.
I have talked about painting the porch floor and shutters , I am thinking the normal porch grey for the floor and maybe a lighter grey for the shutters
Not sure about the chairs , I am going to look into that paint that paints plastics and maybe I will paint them grey too.
THEN ... maybe I can paint my front door this color !

Now if you go back and look at my door you will see it is a mostly glass door, there will not be as much pink as you see on this door. but picture pink floral pillows thrown on all the chairs and a slipcover on the swing.

Pink geraniums and petunias in the washtub, Boston ferns hanging between the posts...

Oh my imagination has it looking so pretty !

Linking up with the last Monday Porch Club this Month, the next Porch Club will be April 1st and then the first of the month from then on.

I added a playlist , just a few of my favorite songs form long ago, if you don't like them feel free to turn it off.

Some of them I like because they have a good beat and you can dance to them.

Some of my fellow oldies will get that, some others won't .

Leola's Spring Open House and What I Found

Pam and I had a fun day Friday. We went up to Leola's in Ozark , Mo. for their spring open house . There were so many pretty things . Look at these swings , wouldn't you love to have them on your porch.Great vignettes everywhere you look .

Lots of repurposed and hand made things ,

Beautiful lamps

Pam is looking at some adorable metal animals ,

Lots of neat old furniture.

Look at this cute bench made from a headboard and foot board of a bed.

Here is an idea I borrowed , see the bed springs on the hooks with the flowers in them.

Here is my take on that .

I almost walked out of there without buying anything , (I'm trying to save money for a trip to visit friends next month), when I saw this sitting out front...
And I knew this is what I needed for my front porch.

I put some fake flowers in it for now , just to get an idea how it will look when I get some real ones.
I'm thinking a fern ,some petunias or geraniums with some sweet potato vines spilling out.
What do you think ?

Anyway we had a great day .
I saw Debra from Common Ground there with her camera too, It was so nice to meet her after reading her blog for so long.
Sorry I missed you Jan , your booth was gorgeous !
It was a great Open House.

Hope you all have a great weekend !

I love a chubby baby !

Isn't she pretty ?

Oh , the sweetness !

Gods perfect blessing !

Why am I showing you baby pictures ? You ask .

Because these two , my son and my daughter-in-law , shown here on their wedding day,

are going to have my next grandchild around the first of November.
It's their first , and I am so happy for them !

Several of these images are from The Graphics Fairy .

Spring Porch Clean Up

As spring draws near I'm thinking about my porch and all the work I need to do out there.
I may have mentioned before that I live on a dirt road , when it is dry dust flies when cars go down the road. There is a movement on to get the road paved , it may happen this spring , if it does I'll be able to decorate out there without everything being covered in dust. This last fall my son and I took down the cute cutouts that were in the porch rails , several of them were rotten and split, and we opened up the entrance some . Since we only primed the rails we put up , they are going to need a good coat of paint this year , plus I want to paint the porch floor and the shutters and door. So I have a lot of work cut out for me .I would like to get out there this week and get all the winter dust and dirt cleaned off.
Next Sunday afternoon my daughter and I are having one of those party's were you invite a bunch of lady friends to come in hopes that they will buy stuff that another lady friend is selling. In this case Scentsy Wickless Candles.
Anyway since the porch is the first thing you see when you arrive , I would like it to be clean.
So I am hoping for a warm day so I can wash it down.
Come on SPRING !!!

Pink Saturday Gratitude

The first thing I want to do is express my gratitude to all of you who made sweet comments on my Sad Day post yesterday !
You don't know what it means to me that you thought to share my sorrow.
You blog land friends are the best !
Next , I would like to send out a thank you to Brenda at Cozy Little House for choosing to feature me in her Welcome Wagon Friday Post. A lot of folks came over to visit from that post, and a lot of you are new followers . Thank you for choosing to follow me !
You do my heart good !These two pictures are some of what comes to mind when I think of a cottage garden.
And cottage garden is what I've been thinking about a lot lately.
It's a rainy cold day today, but that won't last long , I can see the grass starting to turn green , buds on the trees , and blue birds building in my bird houses. So I know spring is almost here.

I can't wait !
I'm so excited !

Sad Day For Me

There is nothing that takes away the pain that you feel when you loose your mate.
I lost mine three years ago today.
There are certain days when it smacks you in the face.
Most of the time I'm OK , I feel good in the fact that I can live on my own and take care of myself, laugh , and remember the good times.
But today , I'm just sad...

My Cottage Livingroom

Welcome ! This is what you see when you enter my home, from the front door you see all the way into the kitchen and beyond to the sun room. This little bench is sometimes a coffee table , but right now it just holds magazines behind the sofa , I keep a few of my favorites there.
When you are standing behind the sofa you see the whole room , it's a cozy little room , but with the fire place and the TV placement there are not a lot of ways to arrange it. Switching the sofa and chairs around is about all you can do .
One of these days I want to get different chairs in there , but it is as close now to my vision as it has ever been.

As you can see I tried turning my books around to get a little less busy look. I like it !
I could probably do with less nicknacks , but I can't seem to part with them.

This is what my sofa looks like most of the time , covers over the slipcovers . you can see why , Bubba thinks it is his sofa !

A few of my cup and saucer collection , none of them worth anything , I just like the ones that look like flowers , or are covered in them.

I found these Hollyhock prints at a local flea market for 3 dollars each . They had black frames , I painted them green first , then decided white would be better.

Don't you love the softness of them ?

I have also been picking up these pink and green doilies when ever I find them.
They so remind me of my grandmother.

This is the way I have decorated my mantel for spring , although I'm thinking it might look better without the little mirrors.
I have this problem of thinking more is better.
I can see I'm not always right about that.
I painted the rose picture , looks pretty good from a distance, just don't look to close.

Well, that's it , This is where I spend most of my time when I'm not in my "sweatshop", that's what I call my work room.
That's a room you won't see , unless a major overhaul happens.
Thanks for visiting !
Please come back again !
I'm linking to all the wonderful Whiteness over at Fadded Charm , go over and take a look.

Happy White Wednesday !
