Getting Ready For Christmas

I put up my tree the day after Thanksgiving . I am only using the small 4 ft. one again this year. It’s not that I don’t like putting up decorations , it’s taking them down that I don’t like. So far that’s the reason I didn’t go all out in my living room this year . But here is a look at my cottage Christmas decor this year…
014

016

I have to get some candles for those crystal nutcracker candle-holders on the mantel.( Forgot about that . )
004
Not much added here , only the cross and the banner .
003
I found the snowshoes at a flea market , and just knew they would make a great display .
006

002
Well that’s it so far , I may decorate a little in the kitchen if I have the time , but so far I am keeping busy with projects for the booths and special orders for customers . And that’s a good thing , What about you ? Do you have your decorations up yet ?

Giving Thanks

I just can’t bring myself to start decorating for Christmas yet .
I think we need to give a little thought to the next holiday first.
007
Time to think about what we are thankful for…
006
For our families and friends …
005
For our homes…
And praying God will send his blessings to all who were affected by the storms yesterday in the Midwest .
And praying for all the folks in the Philippians who are still waiting for help and rescue .
011
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving !
And when that is past , bring on Christmas !

Fall in the Cottage Yard

I took some pictures in and around the yard a few days ago , The leaves have changed and the wind is blowing the fallen ones around ,it is cool and rainy today and really feels like fall .
001
002

As I walked to the mailbox I looked back over my shoulder at the house and noticed all the color in hill behind the house .
Bubba was enjoying chasing leaves while running on his lead,

My little winding country road .

This cool weather makes me want to light the fireplace and and snuggle up with a good book . Maybe a cup of hot cocoa  along side .
I love fall ! It is so pretty here in the Ozarks this time of year . This peak color only lasts for a short time so I need to enjoy it .
I hope you are enjoying fall where you are !

I’m Back !

Gosh ! It’s been a while since I last posted !
I have been busy making things for our craft shows this year . As usual I waited till the last minute to get anything done , so I have been working non-stop to catch up .
We are only doing two shows this year , the first of which is this Friday , Saturday , and Sunday in Harrison , Arkansas.  Tomorrow evening is setup time .
So I thought I would show you some of the things I have been working on .
A couple examples of the caps I decorated …
004
Some of the furniture I refinished , some chalkboards ,and some pumpkin paintings , plus the burlap pillows in the background .
010

I took some time to make a rag garland and a new sign to make our booth pretty .
012
I also made a bunch of flea-market pocket bags ,decorated some canning jars for pretty vases , and painted and added Halloween labels to a bunch of odd jars and bottles , They turned out really cute but I neglected to take pictures of the a-fore  mentioned items , so if you are in the area come on down to the square in Harrison and see them .
Wait till you see the cute Halloween dolls and decorations that Pam has made . And Billie has been quilting like crazy to have some things too.
Hope to see you there !

Happy Labor Day !

I hope you are having a great long weekend , and enjoying the last few unofficial days of summer.
Yesterday was my favorite sister’s birthday , and we celebrated with some cake at my house .
014
She will probably have a fit when she finds out I posted this picture .
I have been busy sewing this week , trying to get some new stock made for the craft shows coming up .
Burlap and lace .

006
015
I love the contradiction of the textures in these pillows .
And burlap is really big right now.
I also finished this little stool that started life as a sewing box and a couple of stray legs .

Two New Repurposed Projects

I have been working on two projects that I am excited about . This is a birdcage I found at a garage sale , I painted it then waited weeks while I searched for a hanging light that I could take apart for the electrical parts. The Hanging light kits at Home Depot were $15.00 and I did not want to spend that much , because I would have to charge to much for the light .

018

Here it is hanging in our booth at Lovejoy’s .

The next project is a headboard I found at a garage sale . I new when I saw it what it was going to be . Here is my before picture .

003

Here is the after…

001

Now it would be great in an entry hall or even a mudroom , there are 3 hooks for hanging coats and hats , and a shelf for you pretties . Plus a chalkboard , there is a little sack with chalk in it .
I had a lot of fun re-purposing these two items , now they have a whole new life as something different .
Okay , time to get back to work , we have a couple of craft shows coming up and we want to take some of our remade furniture to them .

Have a great week !

Desk Makeover

I showed you this picture last time we talked …

027
Well now it has a new look …

002

005
A fresh coat of white paint a little distressing and a light coat of clear wax .
006

It now lives in my living room and I am sitting at it writing this blog .
003

Now I need to make a slipcover for the ugly desk chair so if fits with everything else in there .
Here is a little cabinet I found at a sale , it did have a wood finish , but now it’s white ( of course ) with a little touch of red to make the sweet vintage print pop .

010
I was going to take it down to the booth at Lovejoys , but my neighbor saw it and wants it , so it has a new home . Sold !
