Christmas Gift Project

I know Christmas is over , but I couldn’t show you this before because it was a gift for my daughter , and she does occasionally read my blog.

It is a jewelry box made from an old silverware box . The inside was in great shape so I just left that alone.

006

I painted it white and distressed it , then added sheet music a doily some pictures of her parents , grandparents , a two of her great grandmothers and an old broken pocket watch that is set to the time she was born .

008

Yes the picture in the middle on the right is her Dad and I on our wedding day . My Mom and Dad above and his below.

I added a little more lace , a rosette and a tiny key charm .

012

005

This will hold a lot of jewelry , or I suppose she could always put silver in it .

Anyway I was pleased with how it turned out , and the best part was …

SHE LOVED IT !

I am going to try to make some more similar to this to sell . Do you think they will sell ?

I am going to link this with Faded Charm and White Wednesday.

Random Weekend Pictures

Most of the gift wrapping is done and under the tree…

015

016

And I finished a little project , I started with a small string of lights…

001

Tore some strips of fabric…

002

A lot more than what you see here , and tied them to the light cord , here it is about half way done.

018

And here it is hanging in my kitchen window.

025

023

I think this would be cute anytime of year , you could hang ornaments from it too .

It could be made with fall colors with pumpkins or leaves , or with pastel colors to be hung in a baby’s room . I think there will be lots of them made for next year’s craft shows .

I’ll end with one more picture , my beautiful new granddaughter Haylen at about 2 and a half weeks.

113

Or maybe two , she is just so cute !

134

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend !

Gotta go get the cookies out of the oven .

And Christmas In The Kitchen , At The Picket Fence .

We will start at the vintage cupboard , chocked full of vintage and Christmas .

I’ve had that nutcracker on top of the cupboard for over 20 years , my late brother-in-law sent it to us from Germany .

025

023

Then we move on to the island where the light fixture from the copycat blog hangs above .

027

In the vintage wire basket sits an ironstone pitcher filled with Christmas flowers and a miniature Christmas tree with tiny miniature ornaments .035

And of course there is a bowl of Christmas M&M’s.

Wish I could invite you all over for a hot cup of cocoa .

Have a great Friday !

And thank you girls for all the fun Block Parties !

Christmas Dining

For this block party I have set the table in the sun room for a luncheon for two .

The fisherman Santa was the starting point . I took cues from his plaid shirt and outdoor look . Luckily the salad dish has plaid trees on it too .

006

005

Some plaid napkins and table runner help to set the tone…

A metal utility basket painted white and distressed , with greenery , pine cones , and red and silver balls make up the centerpiece along with Santa .

015

A couple of candles in tarnished silver candlesticks and the table is ready for an intimate luncheon for two.

Now , who should I invite ?

003

Fun with Photoscape .

I found it on Pinterest , it was from a blog called Fresh Poppy Design . She has the red balls hanging on a window . I chose to use them to spice up my kitchen light fixture .

A simple inexpensive ( in my case free , since I had all the stuff ) way to dress up a light fixture , or a window .

Adding a Little Color

I showed you my little tree in my last post . But as I looked at it , it seemed something was missing , there were hints of pink , green and gold , but when you turned the lights on the color disappeared . So I searched out some brighter pink balls ( at WalMart ) and added some light pink music rolls.

Now I’m happy .

011

012

Okay , That’s enough pictures of the tree .

Here are a few of the vintage style toys I have around it till I can get some packages wrapped.

Decorating Started !

Again it’s been a week since I last posted . This time it was the flu or a stomach virus that kept me away , My son-in-law stepped in and baked my turkey on Thanksgiving day, and my sister came over and helped me get the rest of the food on the table. My son and daughter-in-law and new grandbaby couldn’t even come over cause I didn’t want to expose her to germs. Today is the first day I have felt normal . I am even hungry , haven’t been hungry for a week either ( not such a bad thing ), but you can keep the rest of that mess .

Speaking of that new grandbaby here is a picture of her the day she was born.

Meet Haylen !

006

I’m just a little proud of her.

I started decorating this week. I got the tree up…

019

And the stockings hung…

017

I was feeling better last Friday so my daughter and I went shopping . Not a good idea since I had a relapse Saturday. But I did find this pretty mercury glass candle holder at TJ Max for $4.99.

013

I just love it . It’s about 14 inches tall .

Here are a few more pictures I took that I have been playing with…

A Simple Thanksgiving Tablescape

While cleaning today and getting ready for Thanksgiving I decided to see how I was going to set the table for the big event.

There will be 6 adults at this table , my 12 year old grandson and I at the kitchen table that is only about 5 feet away from this table. One toddler in a highchair and one babe in arms . That’s right my littlest granddaughter was born early Saturday morning. Haylen Avery ,8 lbs. 12 oz. 20 and 1/2 inches long. And just beautiful !

This is a simple table , we are not a formal family .

004

Don’t the silverware and napkins in the springs make you think of corn stalks ?

003

002

005

Just a simple burlap runner with red and gold…

A simple table where all my blessings will sit to enjoy a meal and give thanks to God above .

Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving !
