Another Garage Sale Redo

Here is a little wash bench I found at a garage sale for $10.00 . I know ! $10.00 !
It was pretty beat up . the doors were all broken up , to bad to even put back together . The top is kind wonky and wavy from moisture. But I could see the potential .
This is how it looked after I took the doors off and wood puttied the cracks and sanded it ,

And here she is now with a new coat of paint.

004

Her drawers are lined with music sheets…
005

It is the perfect spot to display my handmade tea towels . But I don’t think it will be around long enough to make it to the craft fairs this fall .
I had a lot of fun staging her though .

and
P.S.
Just a couple of cute pictures of Reed in his favorite TV watching spot . He has dumped out his toy box and added a few of my throw pillow for comfort .

Garage Sale Treasure Redo’s

Here are the first of my garage sale redo’s .

016
They started looking like this , Remember ?
Before
005

after
The chalk board on the chairs is an old cabinet door.
015

This lamp is one I got for $3.00 at a garage sale a few weeks ago , a little paint and a handmade rosette added to the shade makes it worth a lot more !
011

Another chalk board made from an old window .

012

And a couple of old brass candle holders painted to look shabby chic’.
013

I have a few more things in the process , but I had to take a few days off to keep an eye on this little guy while his day care is on break .
001
But I will be back to work soon and will have a few more things to post about.
Have a Happy Forth of July !

Garage Sale Treasures

The last couple of weekends have been spent searching for garage sale treasures to makeover for our booth at Lovejoy’s , and we have found a lot of stuff with lots of potential .
Most of it is sitting on my porch.
I am really excited about that little white cabinet and the wash stand with the harp towel holder .

005
I found a pretty canister set , and a set of serving dishes that had never been out of the box . A tiny makeup case destined to be painted and decorated with lace . White dishes are always a good thing.
009
There are chairs and shutters in the garage ,

013

And a TV cabinet I got for $10.00 . I only want to use the base , of coarse it will be painted .
Not sure if I will use the top for anything , it is so big and bulky , but the base is nice .
015
I have started on the little kitchen chairs , there are 3 of them and I am painting each a different color . This one is a peachy color , it looks like a flesh color here . Doesn’t look as pretty in this picture  as it is .
008
I’ll post these things as I get them done .
These are just the things I found , you should see all the stuff Pam found .
Now it’s time to get to work !

Come on by and sit a spell !

I went down to Lovejoy’s this morning and rearranged the booth , filled in holes where things had sold . So here are a few pictures of how it looks now .

Working On The Laundry Room

A few weeks ago my dryer decided to go on the fritz , So after replacing several parts it still wouldn’t heat. Unfortunately it was connected to the washer , as in stacked unit .
Here you can see it from the back , it use to sit beside that wall cabinet and there was a small sink in a cabinet below that .
001
I decided  not to get another stacked washer and dryer cause I didn’t like the idea of having to replace them both if only one was broke . So my son-in-law and I tore out that sink to make room for a normal washer and dryer .
Here is the space after cleaning and giving it a new coat of paint .
002
And this is what it looks like now !
014
I also took out the cabinet I had on the wall to the right and brought in the little green vintage cabinet that I redid a few months ago . I can hide much more stuff in this cabinet and it looks a lot cuter . Plus it brings in that vintage look that I love .
023
On the opposite wall I used to have an open book case for storage , it always held junk like paint cans and such , it was always ugly . Now I have a bench with suitcases stacked on it . That feed sack hides the electrical panel .
017
That door you see is my central vac. closet , and there is some storage in there . The back door is to the left of this bench .
On the right side of the washer and dryer is the door into my messy closet , it has another door that opens into my master bath that is on the backside of this laundry. It makes it convenient for putting away clean clothes .
018
But then there are two more doors in this laundry , one is into the furnace closet .It’s the one with the Ironing board on it .
019
To the right of the mop and broom wall is the door into the kitchen . That’s right ,5 doors in one tiny room! That makes wall space really sparse .
I use to keep that kitchen door closed all the time , because the laundry always looked awful . but now I am liking it ,and it fits better with the rest of the house . I still have a few things I want to do in there , like get rid of that boarder around the top . I already have it down on the washer and dryer wall but still have to do the rest.  But at least now I’m not ashamed to let people see my laundry room .

If some of you are wondering how the Weight Watchers is going , Since  the end of Feb . I have lost almost 12 pounds . I am still working at it , I would like to loose about 25 pounds . I am learning to eat more healthy foods and watch my portions . I guess that's what it is all about .

Vintage Lawn Chairs

I know what you’re thinking ! What’s come over Sharon ? Blog posts two days in a row ?
I just couldn’t wait to show you the chairs I found yesterday at a flea market .
I have been looking for some of these for quite awhile .

001
I love these vintage metal chairs ! As you can see they are a yucky hunter green color . But it looks like at one time they were a lighter green.

003
004

I am in the process of sanding down the chippy spots so I can paint them . I think I will paint them the color of my shutters .

006

I was thinking maybe pink like the door , but I think the green will cover better with the lighter green . What do you think ?
Then maybe I will paint the wooden glider pink…
002
I’m still on the lookout for a couple more chairs like these , I have a set price that I won’t go over , and most places want an arm and a leg for them. I was glad I was able to talk the man down to my price on these .
We are having a beautiful day today . Sunny and warm and windy . We are suppose to have warm weather all week , but they are calling for rain too .
April showers bring May flowers !
Have a great week !

Ladder Back Love

Again it’s been awhile since I last posted . I have been busy trying to keep our booth at Lovejoy’s filled .
The other day I found a couple of ladder back chairs with really tall backs . you can see them here in the picture where I am working on a new coffee table . I bought the table to take to the booth , but ended up liking it better than the one I had so switched them out and took the one I had been using to the booth .
017

The before of the ladder back .

018

The finished coffee table…

027

I am almost ready to put the white slipcover back on my sofa for spring and summer . the corduroy like upholstery on  this sofa is so soft and cozy in the winter .
Anyway , here are the finished ladder back chairs …

020

They look really cute in my kitchen . But they are not staying there . I have to take something to the booth !

021

024
Aren’t the polka-dots fun ?
Do the ladder rungs look like mustaches to you ? Or is it just me ?
Hope you are having a great weekend !
