Decorating Started !

Again it’s been a week since I last posted . This time it was the flu or a stomach virus that kept me away , My son-in-law stepped in and baked my turkey on Thanksgiving day, and my sister came over and helped me get the rest of the food on the table. My son and daughter-in-law and new grandbaby couldn’t even come over cause I didn’t want to expose her to germs. Today is the first day I have felt normal . I am even hungry , haven’t been hungry for a week either ( not such a bad thing ), but you can keep the rest of that mess .

Speaking of that new grandbaby here is a picture of her the day she was born.

Meet Haylen !

I’m just a little proud of her.

I started decorating this week. I got the tree up…

And the stockings hung…

I was feeling better last Friday so my daughter and I went shopping . Not a good idea since I had a relapse Saturday. But I did find this pretty mercury glass candle holder at TJ Max for $4.99.

013

I just love it . It’s about 14 inches tall .

Here are a few more pictures I took that I have been playing with…

A Simple Thanksgiving Tablescape

While cleaning today and getting ready for Thanksgiving I decided to see how I was going to set the table for the big event.

There will be 6 adults at this table , my 12 year old grandson and I at the kitchen table that is only about 5 feet away from this table. One toddler in a highchair and one babe in arms . That’s right my littlest granddaughter was born early Saturday morning. Haylen Avery ,8 lbs. 12 oz. 20 and 1/2 inches long. And just beautiful !

This is a simple table , we are not a formal family .

Don’t the silverware and napkins in the springs make you think of corn stalks ?

Just a simple burlap runner with red and gold…

A simple table where all my blessings will sit to enjoy a meal and give thanks to God above .

Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving !

And where did the shutters go ?

By the door of course .

Anything else you don’t see here , like the art work , is now residing in the guest room where everything that doesn’t fit somewhere else goes to live until I find a better home for it .

As you can see I couldn’t help myself , I Had to put out a few Christmas things.

024

( Thanks for the idea Jan .)

I’ll put out the rest the weekend after Thanksgiving , if I’m not to busy shopping .

So if she doesn’t decide to come today my grandbaby will be here tomorrow . Yeah !!!

Going to party with these great ladies

Another Coffee Filter Wreath

It’s been over a week since I last posted . I don’t really have an excuse , except I didn’t feel like I had much to say , and I haven’t done many projects.

I did manage to get one project done that I have been meaning to try, and I know everyone else has already done this , but since it is the only thing I have managed to get done I’m blogging about it .

So here it is…

002

I’ve hung it from a frame and set it on the mantel for now , I’m thinking of revamping the whole mantel , except for the writing on the wall , I will leave that. Just not sure what I want to do yet .

001

Going to start digging around my stash of stuff and see what I can find to change things up . I want to find something that I can decorate for Christmas that I will love.

Anyone have any bright ideas for me ?

We are waiting for my son’s first child to be born , she was due on the 9th , they are waiting till Friday morning , if she is not here by then they will induce labor . So by this next weekend I will be a Nanaw again to a sweet baby girl .

Girls Day Trip Get-away

Saturday , my partners in crime and I (Pam and Billie ) decided to take a day and do what we do best, shop and treasure hunt , and since Leola’s Garden and Antiques ( one of our favorite stores ) in Ozark , Mo. was having their Holiday open house , we decided that was a great place to start. I brought my camera and took lots of pictures. If I lived closer to this place I would so want to be one of these ladies that run this place. there is so much inspiration there and they are all so sweet. You can find my good blogging buddy Jan from Summer Sundays there sometimes too, she was there all weekend for the open house.

Doesn’t it just make you drool ?

We hit a couple of the many antique and flea markets in Ozark and then went on to Springfield and hit the fabric stores. For the three of us you can’t get much better than antiques , junk, and fabric. We would take that over diamonds and pearls any day.

Wonderful day !

This Week’s Projects

All this week I have been watching my sweet baby Reed , who has been under the weather , and even though he is two months shy of it , has already hit the terrible twos. So it has been fun.

The good thing is he loves Sesame Street . He will sit or stand in his playpen for long periods of time watching it . which gives Nanaw a break , and time to get a few things done .

Here are a couple of things I was able to get done this week.

Remember awhile back when I showed you this ?

005

I found this unfinished cabinet door I had laying around and these hooks.

006

This is what I came up with…

008

Sorry this is not staged , I haven’t figured out where I’m going to put it yet . I want to put it in my bathroom , but have to do some rearranging to have room for it

.009

Can’t you see some fluffy towels on that top shelf thing ? Now that I am looking at it here , I am thinking it would look good with a graphic on that bottom panel above the hooks. What do you think ?

I painted it with homemade chalk paint , 1 cup paint , 2 tbls. un-sanded grout .

I used Behr’s Premium Plus flat paint in Cotton Whisper . There were so many pretty white shades I had a hard time making up my mind . ( I went with the name I liked the best ).

I used the same color to paint this keepsake box…

001

I’m going to add this to my Etsy shop today.

Small Burlap Project

Today I’m sharing a small ( easy ) burlap project.

A friend gave me this cool gallon jar , I thought it needed a little something , so I took a piece of burlap and added one of the little Citra Solv transfer samples I made the other day, stitched it together and made a sleeve for the jar.

Now I can use it to store something , not sure what yet , but something.

Any ideas ?

001

Makes a nice vignette with the basket I bought the other day.

002

That’s it , that’s all I got today !

Except these cute pictures of my grandkids when they came Trick or Treating last night.
