Frustrated !

I am so frustrated with blogger today , It won't let me highlight my girls I want to link with , and it won't let me edit my post. Is anyone else having a problem ?

Jars , Burlap and Lace

What do you do with a bunch of old jars and bottles ?
Well... You dress them in burlap and lace...
Add a few rosettes ...
And fill them with spring flowers !

New Use for Napkins

OK , so I admit this is not a big decorating challenge !

I took the lace napkins I bought while out treasure hunting , and folded one over the top of each of my shades in my sun room.It added just a little softness to all those windows .

I've been thinking for awhile I wanted something on the windows in there , but I didn't want to block any of the light that comes in.

Well I like it for now , when I get tired of it , it's easy enough to take down.

Like I said , not a big decorating thing , but fun just the same !

Something Simple

Thursday my friend Billie and I decided to take a day and go treasure hunting .

We headed west toward Eureka Springs , Arkansas.

We stopped at several thrift shops and antiques stores. But my main objective was this store...

Something Simple

Found at 107 E. Van Buren , in Eureka Springs.

It is a cottage lovers delight.
If you look close you can see the owner Kaylene Shepard in the background of this picture.
She is a sweet talented tiny woman , with glasses perched on the tip of her nose most of the time.
Just look at these pictures and enjoy !

Just look at the rolled up book pages on this door !

She carries a lot of soy based products.

And a lot of things she hand crafts herself.

Some antiques , and a lot of re-purposed things.

I like the idea of gluing book pages to this door, gives me an idea of what to do with that door I didn't use for a table top.

And don't you just love that little flower shaped chandy ?

There is an upstairs too !

Isn't this a delightful room ?

I love that wagon painted black !

Now here is an idea I am definitely going to borrow !!

I found 12 lace napkins there for $12.95
I hope if you ever get to Eureka Springs you will stop by

Something Simple

Here are the rest of the treasures I found .

Twelve dove grey napkins for $6. four dark green and two cream damask napkins , two quilted pillow shams , and two Jadite kitchen accessories.

And since it was the day before my birthday I considered them a gift to myself.

All in all a fun filled wonderful day in my book !

Another picture of my stash.

Have a wonderful Easter !

Enjoy time with your family !
And remember God's sacrifice !

Prairie Inspiration Table

A few weeks back I got my copy of Fifi's book , Romantic Prairie Style , I love this book there are so many inspiring photos and lifestyles.Anyway on pages 132 and 134 there are pictures of this farm table.

I fell in love with it the minute I saw it , I did some looking around and came to the conclusion that there wasn't one that I could afford in my area.

So then I thought , "I have and old door in the garage , Maybe I can make a table out of that ."

Well being an old door it wasn't flat so I thought I could get a piece of Plexiglas to put on top to have a smooth surface to eat from. When I called the local glass place for a price check on a piece of Plexiglas to fit they told me it would be $86. and change for it , OK that's more than I wanted to pay for just the table top , I am living on Social Security, I have to be frugal !
So I decided to just get boards and make the whole dang thing.

Here it is in the painting stage , I didn't think to take pictures while I was putting it together,( I was to busy cussing at the screwdriver and saws ).

Once I got it in the house to paint things went smoother.

Of course I had to manhandle it some to get it turned over to paint the bottom. ( because I'm to impatient to wait for someone to come help me.)

So here she is , all done !

I am thrilled with how it turned out.

Go back up and look at those pictures again .

Not to bad for an old girl , huh ?

Just in time for Easter dinner !

If I'm not to late I'm going to link this up with.

One other thing !

I am slowly creeping up on 100 followers , and I am thinking about a giveaway.

I was thinking, tell me if you like this idea.

That I would do a black and white portrait drawing from a photo that the winner would send me.

It could be an old photo of your grandmother ,or one yourself or one of your children or grandchild.Whom ever you like. Do you like that idea ?

Let me know !

OH ! almost forgot , I'm going to paint a couple of these chairs , and remove a couple of the other ones to go with the table , I like the mismatched chairs better . I'll keep you updated.

Rosettes and Pink Saturday

This is one of those weeks where I feel like I haven't gotten much done.

What I have been doing is making rosettes.

I got on line and found all kinds of rosette tutorials, one of them from our good friend Jami at Freckled Laundry . There are lots of different ways to make rosettes , and lots of different materials they can be made from. Here are some I made.Pink ones for Pink Saturday. These are made with wired ribbon , so far I like wired ribbon ones best. More wired ribbon . My granddaughter wants this one on a headband. More wired ribbon... Crepe paper ones ,sorry about the glue string .
Felt ones...
And twisted fabric ones .
So many ribbons , so many possibilities .
I am putting pins on the back of most of these so they can be attached to other projects or just worn as a pin.

When I'm not burning my fingers with hot glue I am having a lot of fun with these.

So have a nice weekend , and stop by to see sweet Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for Pink Saturday fun.

Now , Back to rosettes !

Ottoman Slipcover

Did you ever see a more disgusting ottoman ?

I bought it for $3.00 because it was sturdy and the right size.

But that's all it had going for it !This was my first attempt at a slipcover and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I think I may make another one , just so I won't have to look at that old ottoman when I take this cover off to wash it ! Happy White Wednesday ! I am linking with Faded Charm , You have got to go over and take a look at all the wonderful white stuff !

Sad Endings New Beginnings

I returned safely from my trip to Dallas to visit old friends, I had a wonderful visit with a high school friend , we talked and talked about old times and what had happened in our lives since we saw each other last .We went to visit another friend from our youth , this woman and I grew up in the same neighborhood , we met when we were nine.

This friend( Marilyn ) was fighting cancer. she was on a heavy dose of pain medication while we were there. We sat with her and her sister and daughters and talked about old times and the fun we had as kids. I wasn't sure how much she heard or understood. But it was good to be with her for one last time. I called to check how she was doing the next day, and her sister said that later the night before Marilyn said real plain " I've known Sharon for a reealllly long time ." So I feel like now she knew we were there and heard us talking.
Marilyn lost her battle with cancer early this morning.
I'm so glad I went to Dallas and got to be with her one more time.
The pain is gone and she is starting a new life .

God be with her family .
