Porch Inspiration Pictures

I have been perusing the Internet for ideas on how to decorate my porch this year.

Of course being budget challenged , I have to look for ideas that can make it happen without spending much money.

Hanging pots are always pretty. My kids usually give me hanging pots for my birthday in April and for Mothers' Day. I love that .And some kind of porch swing is a must. When I think of a country front porch I always see a swing or glider on it .

Always lots of chairs so lots of friends can sit and visit.

Isn't that wheelbarrow with the flowers cute ?

An American flag always sets a porch off nicely.

Oh this is pretty , a swing a davenport and a potting bench .

Well I defiantly want to sit a spell here !

Look at those flowers !

Can't you just see friends gathered here ?

I have an idea for a neat flower pot or holder.

I'm thinking and old washing machine of some sort.

Seems like an old appliance on the porch in the country would

be a fitting flower pot.

Something like this...
Or this...

First I have to find one that won't cost an arm and a leg .

Can't you just see ferns and flowers spilling out of them ?

Most of these inspiration pictures came from a site called

Front Porch Ideas and More.

I really enjoyed looking through that site.

Hutch Base Home

This is it !
This is where my newly painted hutch base ended up living, I think it looks much nicer than the cabinet I had there before, I hung the paper wreath that I made before Christmas above it and created some height with the bird house. Here I added a white pitcher with some pink roses , just because I thought it needed a little pink there.
I was asked what kind of paint I used , it was left over white exterior latex , semi-gloss.
( still have over half a gallon left , guess I will have to paint something else. )
And yes I am going to paint the top of the hutch , just don't know what I am going to do with it yet , I'm sure I will come up with something.

Are you wondering what I did with the cabinet I had there before ?
This one that I made by putting together an old door , base cabinet and an old wall bathroom cabinet ?

Well ... I put it in the guest bathroom .

It's a big bathroom , so it doesn't take up all the floor space, although I wish the base was not quite so deep.

Now I just have to find a place for all the junk I cleaned out of the hutch.
There were four drawers of old photos and odds and ends of stuff that had nowhere else to go.
I have to go through it all and discard what is no good.
It is amazing how much stuff we can accumulate in 30 or 40 years !
Wish me luck !

Gonna add this to Debra's Vintage Inspiration Friday.

White Wendnesday Makeover

Whew ! Finished it just in time to get in on White Wednesday.
This is a hutch that I have had since 1969 , purely late 60s Early American.
As you can see I had already taken one of the small doors off before I thought to take a before picture. This was one of the first pieces of furniture that my husband and I bought when we were first married, so you understand why it took me so long to decide to paint it.
But it was really out of date !
Here we go ! New look !
I bought new handles and knobs , I had to paint the hinges , as I could not find any to fit.
But I am pleased with how it turned out.
I haven't done the top yet , because I am not planing on using them together right now.

I love these drawer pulls , I would love to put them on my kitchen drawers, but the drawers are made so that I can't.

Once I get this placed where I want it , I will take some more pictures.
So what do you think ?
Do you like her makeover ?
Please go over to Faded Charm and look at all the fabulous white stuff !
Happy White Wednesday !

Little Pink Girls and Awards

Several years ago I worked in a gift shop , and you know how you do when you get an employee discount, You find yourself buying things that you might not have a use for , but because you think they are pretty or they might make a nice gift someday ,you start collecting something.

Such is the case with these little figurines.

They have been sitting in this corner cupboard in my guest bathroom for the last year.

Before that they were in their boxes packed away.

But now I'm thinking they need a little respect , they need to come out into the living room.Look how sweet they are !

They each speak of Spring .

With little touches of pink and roses.

Yep ! They are moving into the living room !

Don't you think so ?

Pink and White Love

I am a little ashamed to admit that Monday I was feeling a little sorry for myself , I was remembering Valentines days in the past . My Valentine would always bring me flowers and candy ( which he usualy ate.) But Valentines wasn't the only time he brought me flowers , at least once a week he would stop and buy a bouquet of fresh flowers and bring them to me. He was romantic that way.

I miss that.

When my daughter Mandy came after work to pick up my grandson she came in with this beautiful bouquet of pink and white flowers .

I have to say she made my day !Isn't it amazing how looking through a camera lens lets you appreciate each individual flower ?

The shades of pink are so pretty !

I could just wallow in this lushous pinkness.

These little pink buds are so sweet.

And this white.. Well I just love white.

Thank you Mandy and Ryan !

I love you !

Happy White Wednesday !

Pink Inspiration

It's the time of year that I start thinking about all the things that I would love to do to my home.
I have a folder that I keep pictures of rooms and decor that say cottage to me and give me inspiration . these pictures have all come from the Internet or magazines and are not my own. but they all say cottage home to me.
Sorry I can't give proper credit .
I love the mix of pink and red in this room.Isn't this the cutest sideboard ?

Oh... This pink just makes me drool .

I love all this stuff , I want it all in my kitchen.

I'm drooling again.. Look at all the pretty pastels.

I love the skirt , I have actually done this in my kitchen .

And last , this wonderful pink door and shutters . This is so , so pretty .
You have to have a lot of moxie to pull this off .
I don't think this would look as good on my house , but I sure love it !

Happy Pink Saturday !

The Porch and Romance

Ahh... Porches and romance , makes me think of kisses good night and sitting on the porch swing with your sweetheart. Or maybe a young girl sitting on that swing waiting for her beau to come by.When I think about porches I see visions of Andy , Aunt Bea , and Opie sitting around on on a summers eve talking about the goings on in Mayberry.
Or the porch at the country store where everyone gathered to gossip or play a game of checkers.
Or where the family gathered to have that photographer come to
take a family picture.

When I think of a Romantic porch , it looks like this...

Or this...

Or this...

My porch may not be that romantic , but it is where family and friends
gather to talk and eat and enjoy a summer holiday .

Where flowers bloom , kids play in the yard and everyone feels at home.
I think that has an element of romance .

Don't you ?
Well now I am really yearning for warm weather, and soft summer nights .

Vintage Inspired Valentine Tags

As everyone knows there has been some nasty weather going on through out much of the country.
Nothing different here...
School has been out since Tuesday , which means Reed's ( my grandson ) daycare has been out also. So for the last three days I got nothing done except entertaining him.
But today the grandpa on Daddy's side said he would watch him if the older two would come along and help. So I have a free day !
I did manage to make these Valentine tags Monday, so I thought I would share them with you.
I will give these to two special women in my life , cause lets face it women appreciate this kind of thing more.
My daughter Mandy and my sister Pam .

I will have to give this pink one to Pam because it has glitter around the bottom , Mandy has a phobia about glitter, it drives her nuts. ( What is wrong with that girl ? )I love glitter !

I'm going to hook up with Debra's Vintage inspired Friday and with Beverly's Pink Saturday.
Hop on over and see all the wonderful things that have been posted there.
