Playing around...

I know ! Every time you get on my blog I have changed something.
I can't help it , I am always looking for something better.
I hope someone out there can help me figure out how to change the background to something that is not on the blogs tinplate. I want something that is cottagey. Like a floral print or poka-dot or some such thing.
I know, never satisfied ...

Last Weekend's Crafts Fair

These pictures were taken early in the morning before the show opened.

Just a few pictures of the things we were selling.

It was a great show with big crowds , there was entertainment and lots of food, the people were having a good time but they were not buying a lot of stuff , I guess the economy is still holding them back from buying things that are not needed. Most of the crafters we talked to were way down in sales from last year . Hopefully things will start picking up soon.

We have three more weekends of sales, two more in Arkansas and one more in Missouri, hope they come with money in their pockets !

We had a lot of return customers who came and bought from us, God bless them !

Loaded to the gills

This is my car all loaded for our first craft fair which starts tomorrow in

Fair Grove, Mo.
My car carries most of the stuff that we display on.

The bins are product to sell , and then when we don't have any more room for bins we bag soft unbreakable stuff , like teddy bears , and shove it in wherever it will fit.

Pam's car has 8 large bins , the tent , and miscellaneous bags stuffed in around, ready to take off this afternoon to set up for the fair tomorrow.

Tomorrw morning we will take 15 windows like the ones below being shown off by Bubba the wonder dog.

I will take some pictures this weekend to post Mon.

Have a great Weekend !

Sunroom , Help !

This is my sun room . It is a small room , only 12 x 14.Imagine all the furniture gone , except for the built-in cabinet to the left of the pocket french doors. The table is too big and impossible to put the leaf in by oneself.
I use this room as a dinning room when I have guests, only when I have guests .
I also use it as a studio when I'm painting , because the light is so good , and an extra work station when I am getting ready for a craft show , which is why it is in such a mess right now.

How would you go about decorating it on a budget to serve all those purposes and still look Shabby Chic' ?

Now you have taken a tour all the way around the room , let me hear your ideas, I have a few in my head , but I really could use some new ones !
Help !

Your friend in need,
Sharon

Trompe-l'oeil

This is part of my living room entryway, as you can see there really isn't enough room to put a grandfather clock on that wall , it would stick out into the hall doorway, so I decided to try Trompe-l'oeil ( fool the eye ).
The clock face is a real clock. When I originally painted the clock , the wall was yellow , since then I decided to change the color so the glass vase with berry twigs in it that was on top bit the dust . I will have to figure out something else to go up there. It looks bare to me .
Next is the back door out of the sun room , since there are 8 windows in that room I didn't want to add a door with a window, so we put a solid door in. I didn't like that either , so I painted it to look like a book cabinet .Then next to the door was a blank wall with no room to put anything because of the door opening , I decided I needed a shelf there, only 5 inches deep , my husband decided to make it look like a fire place, and then told me to make a fire in it, so I did !

So what do you think , do you like my Tromp-l'oeil ?

Precious Boy Baby

I just had to share !
This is my youngest grandson Reed . He is 8 months old. These are 2 of the pictures they took of him at his daycare. ( School Pictures )
Maybe it's because I'm his grandmother , but I think he is the cutest little guy !
And a true blessing to our family.
He has us all wrapped around his little finger...

Rainy Day

Another rainy day in the Ozarks , I say another because I took these pictures last week and never got a chance to post them , and now it is raining again so...You can see the rock beds my son has built for me . I have to get some good soil delivered to fill them in , it's hard to find good soil around here because we have so much rock , but I want to get it soon so I can plant some bulbs to come up next spring.
I think it will be real pretty when it's done.
My rose bush needs to be trimmed , it's going wild !

But it is raining again and I just want to take a nap.
Does rain affect you that way ?

Porch design

OK , this is the design I finally decided on , a straight rail with a little twist , there are 3 different sizes of boards , I got 4 sections done yesterday afternoon before it got too hot , just 2 more sections to go and then the painting , we primered the new boards before we put them up. At the other end of the porch where I still have work to do, in the weeds ,volunteer marigolds ,and wild blackberries , was this sweet little blue flower , looking like a morning glory but only about an inch and a half wide , only one , but a pretty little surprise from nature.

Saying " Good Morning Sharon ! "

Y'all have a good Monday !

Frost on the pumpkin ?

No , not really , at least not yet !

I'm talking about Sweetie Pies' Frosted Pumpkins.

Every year at craft fair time Pam and I get together at her house and have a pumpkin making blitz . We usually make orange chenille pumpkins , we have for the last 5 or 6 years , this year we decided to do it a little different and make them out of burlap . I think they turned out really cute !

And then , thinking in my shabby chic' mode , I said " Why don't we make some white chenille ones ? "

So we did ! And I love them !

Going to have a hard time letting these go ." sigh "

And don't you love them mixed ?

I think we are going to have to make more of these , we'll see how they go at the first show.

Well Pam is cracking the whip , she says " Get back to work ! "

So talk to you more later !

Little things make me happy

Saturday my sister and I took the day and went junking to some places we hadn't been before .
We stopped at no less than 5 antique and flea market malls.
I found these Jadite salt and pepper shakers , at least that's what I think they are, They may be for spices , but I like the art deco design on them .

And this mixing bowl set . It's not old but I like the retro feel they have. Here is a closer look . Don't pay any attention to the not stacked so neat dishes behind them.

Out of 5 huge places these two small things were all I found , but I was so pleased when I got home and placed them in my kitchen .
Don't you think they are sweet ?
The best part was , I got to spend the whole day with my sister doing what I love to do , While her husband stayed home and did what he loves to do...
Watch football !

Thinking Fall

The first few days of September get me thinking about fall , cooler nights , cooler days , leaves starting to change colors , all those wonderful things.
I love fall !

We got rain on the first of Sept. ( my sister's birthday ) , and again last night, everything was getting so dry , the grass would crunch when you walked on it. You could almost see it turn back green as the rain came down.

I'm hoping the leaves have good color this year , there is nothing prettier than these hills in the fall .

Yesterday my son and I got a bee in our bonnets to change the look of the front porch , I have had rails with cutouts in then , and some of them were getting rotten . So we took them out and just left the straight boards that were in between. This is what we have now.

I Think this is a little too open , so I think we are going to put two real narrow boards between each bigger board. And then paint the porch deck.

That's a nice fall project , and all while I'm trying to get ready for craft fairs.

Oh well , there is nothing like keeping busy.

Have a great weekend !
